Jack Moys & Glöden first came on to our radar with their brilliantly catchy 'Drink, Drank Drunk' after listening to this tune, we searched for more finding their Soundcloud, with their brilliant Hummingbird Says Drink E.P. After this we have made ‘Hummingbird’ our track of the day and been lucky enough to grab a word with lead Jack Moy, about these partying Swedish indie folk lads. If you have been fans of The King Blues check these guys out.
I'm fine I guess, I have this thing where I start every morning with a hangover size texas and some toast.
So I suppose we better start at the beginning how long have you being playing/writing?
I've been a Singer/songwriter for the last 8 years, the Jack Moy & Glöden project has just been running since December 2011.
How long have you known the rest of the band?
Me and Zebastian have been drinking buddies since we were kids, we always talked about taking over the world but in those days Zeb was all about Metal and Hardcore. I actually met Sebastian Söderström in the local pub one summer, he was sitting down with this huge suitcase and loads of bags. I went over and asked if he wanted some company, turns out he just got kicked out from his flat and had no where to stay.Sebastian stayed with me for 3 months before getting his own flat and Jack Moy & Glöden was born. (Sebastian Söderström played in the band 'The stereo in Iris' and Zebastian Mattsson in the hardcoreband 'One arm short') Are you guys still based in Sweden? Because in 'Hold Your Head Up' you mention your move to London? My dad's English, my mum's Swedish, I've been moving back and forth for as long as I can remember. But we have been based in Upplands Väsby outside of Stockholm throughout the JMG time..
I believe that its the technology that's moved forward and makes it possible to have a studio in you bedroom and allows so many people to get involved. As far as Sweden goes, you do know its winter here for 6 months of the year? People tend to stay inside and without doing something creative I think you'd probably kill yourself. When it comes to our friends most are in bands, and there's always a show or two to see when the weekend comes.
So how would you explain the style of music you play, as it has so many different sounds?
This is always the hardest question, It doesn't really matter to us what genre people put our music in. I would guess that we do some sort of Indiepop/folk/street.
We have noticed your E.P 'Hummingbird Says Drink' has been up on your Soundcloud for 3 months but we can't find where we can purchase it?
Don't worry I'll hook you up with some free downloads:
If you're on Spotify:
And if you're filthy rich you can always buy our music from iTunes (We do prefer people to buy us a beer when you come to the shows instead of putting their money here)
The track 'Hummingbird' was our track of the day, could you tell us a bit about it?
It's the first song I wrote for JMG, its basically a reverse love song, or a 'how to' book of fucking up your relationship
2013 seems to be going pretty good already what can we expect from the rest of the year?
We will keep writing songs and with some luck we will have our debut album out sometime 2013
What are you gigs like? We imagine them to be one hell of a party! Have you got any coming up?
Well, the video for 'Drink, drank, drunk' is pretty accurate, cause its just a video from one of our gigs. But you're right, sometimes things get a bit out of hand, and that's without even talking about the afterpartys.
Thanks for the time guys, keep in contact with any news, releases or gigs. We would love to catch up with you at a gig or something.
Of course Sam! And thanks!
