Goldray Interview

This week after a long time of exchanging emails, Kenwyn House and Leah Rasmussen from Goldray have found the time in there busy schedule of recording there debut album and filming there new video to answer some questions. This band isn't new to the world of music with members of the band being involved with Reef, Faithless, Renaissance and EMI.
They have now produced a sound with an essence of rock, with added vocals that could be placed over a dance track.

Hi Goldray, can you just tell us what your roles are in the band for people who are unsure? As I understand you have had a little change in line up of the band?

Kenwyn House (Reef) on Guitars, Leah Rasmussen (Renaissance, EMI) on Vox, Andy Treacy (Faithless) on Drums and Sinah Blohberger on Bass

Kenwyn: Andy has just joined the band he suddenly become available as Faithless broke up last year, perfect timing as we were looking for a new drummer and he's just the perfect style of drummer we were looking for. He's great at all the 60's 70's drum styles and we love that.

How did you meet and how long have you been going for?

Kenwyn: Leah and I met in Glastonbury high street actually just under 5 years ago (but that's another story!) We started jamming and writing together about 4 years ago. I soon realized that together we had something really strong musically and that we could really do something on a more serious level. It took us a couple of years to find our sound and style until just under 2 years ago we started Goldray. We deliberately kept things quiet about the band, just quietly gigging and getting it right. We've now written a big bunch of songs and have now recorded most of our album. Yeah, feeling really good about it.

You played Glastonbury Festival last year in the Rabbit Hole, what an amazing venue? How did it go and did you manage to go and enjoy the rest of the festival?

Kenwyn: Actually no! Yeah amazing little venue but 4 days before the gig, like an idiot I fell down the stairs in the dark in the middle of the night and knocked myself unconscious! So at the festival I had a big black eye, swollen face and felt shit. Plus it was a really muddy festival so we had a real mission getting the gear to the site. The Rabbit hole lot were amazing though and looked after us well. No partying for me though as I felt pretty rough...We'll make up for it next year though eh? :)

Your heading back to Glastonbury but for Godney Gathering on the 21st of July. Will there be many more gigs/festivals this year?

Kenwyn; There are various things we are waiting to hear back from but not confirmed yet, but to be honest our main priority at this stage is finishing our album.

When does you debut single 'Don't Walk Away' come out? I see you have been recording an album as well when can we expect to see it?

Leah: Yes almost finished....We're a bit behind though as we've had to rehearse Andy into the band plus he's had to learn some new material to record on the album. It should be finished by the end of June though as things are going really well.  Album release date will either be late Sept this year or early Jan next year...We'll leave that for da management to decide!

This is an old recording and I will replace it with there video as soon as its up.

I have been reading about your video for the debut single on Facebook; how did your eyebrows get singed? Can we know anything else about the video that we have not yet read?

Leah:  ...Mmm not sure I should give the game away...Well mummy always told me not to play with fire...Nuff said! You'll just have to wait and see! We're really happy with our video, it's all finished and ready to go..Should be out in next couple of weeks. It was mega fun making it, we carried drum kit and guitars into woods and had a full moon party... you'll just have to wait and see he he!  It's the video for our debut single 'Don't walk Away' It's actually going to be a double A single and it'll be out early June. The second track will be 'How Does it Feel" They're both finished now and sound quite different to the versions that have been on our website.

Thanks for the time guys and will speak to you soon.
