Deap Vally Interview

This week we spoke to the beautiful and talented Deap Vally. They are made up of Lindsey Troy and Julia Edwards, and are a 2 piece rock and roll/blues band from California. Their heavy blues style reminds me a lot of White Strips and at some points even the voice and guitar screaming sounds like Jack. They have just popped over to England for a couple of gigs and have seemed to stir the media in to a frenzy, with their name on every blog and magazine (Would just like to say we did get in contact before we knew they were coming over). Anyway consequently the interview is not the most detailed one we have put up but I'm sure their very busy.

Lets start from the beginning how do you know each other?

I taught Lindsey's crochet class. She picked it up really quickly. I had her double crocheting in no time.

Have you always wanted to make music? Has it always been this bluesy rock and roll?

Always and 4eva. We've both done lots of different styles of music, from experimental to pop. Rock and roll is the most athletic.

Who is your main influence?

Led Zeppelin

Being this rock & roll band do you play a gig and then have a massive party, are all these rumours true about rock & roll bands?

If you don't wake up somewhere strange, it hasn't been a good show.

Your over here in England now? Have you been over here before? (Sorry the weather has been so bad, summer is usually a bit better than this.) What do you think to our crowds?

Gluttons for punishment with weather like that...

Their new track which is being played by the likes of Fearne Cotton and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1 is called 'Gonna Make My Own Money' can be heard on their Soundcloud page.

Soundcloud

What other gigs and festivals do you have lined up?

Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, Latitude, Reading and Leeds, 1234

When can we expect some new tracks from you? Maybe an album this year?

Reckon so.

Any other plans for the rest of the year? You must have a lot going on with the hype surrounding you at the moment?

Work on our tans, do some heavy jamming, quit our day jobs.
