Peace Live Review

Peace released their debut album in March and it has gone mad! These boys have been touring the UK with the NME Awards Tour and now are smashing their own lead tour, with dates all over the world including Japan, USA, Canada, Germany, France and popping backing just to play Glastonbury!!!!!
Sam Alden one of the extended family of Just New Music went down to see them and told us what he thought.

The 21st of April 2013 saw Worcester quartet Peace make a triumphant return to Gloucester Guildhall, having played at the venue in 2010 under former band name November and the Criminal. Frontman Harry Koisser led the teen angst fuelled set beautifully, supported by falsetto backing vocals and an impressively tight rhythm section. Although Peace are a band with a distinct image, they certainly can’t be accused of choosing style over substance; opening with album highlight “Delicious”, the band provided arena worthy sing-alongs from the start – sing-alongs that have earned them slot at a multitude of major festivals over the coming summer, and netted them a number of respectable chart positions.

The crowd were treated to the anthemic angst ridden hit ‘Lovesick’ early on in the set, followed by stripped down ballad ‘Float Forever’. Album opener ‘Higher Than The Sun’ was also given a good airing, followed by ‘Scumbag’, a track led by a driving Grohl-esque drum beat and a Nirvana style breakdown. Despite a hit packed set, the highlight of the night came in the form of a cover. The band’s 2012 ‘EP Delicious’ featured an ambitious 10 minute interpretation of Binary Finary’s hit dance track ‘1998’, and the live performance was nothing short of epic. This was followed by a pleasing yet somewhat predictable encore of singles ‘California Daze’ and ‘Bloodshake’. It can be considered unjust that their audience was mainly comprised of 15 year old school kids dressed like Topman mannequins and pretending to have a good time. Peace are a band of high calibre and deserve a more credible and appreciative fan base; an accolade that I feel is very much in their near future.
